Hey Dog Dad!

I'm a little late sending this month's newsletter, I wish I could blame it on the 1 hour less sleep when the clocks went forward, but I can't!

It's officially British Summer Time. As the weather warms up and the flowers bloom, it's important to keep your furry friend safe from seasonal hazards. Here are some springtime safety tips for dog dads:

  • Protect against fleas and ticks with regular preventative treatments.
  • Beware of toxic plants that can cause serious health problems if ingested.
  • Watch out for seasonal allergies and consult with your veterinarian for treatment options.
  • Supervise outdoor activities and be mindful of potential hazards.
  • Practice good hygiene by regularly bathing and brushing your dog, and cleaning their toys and bedding.

By following these simple springtime safety tips, you can ensure that your furry friend stays healthy and happy during this season of renewal. Remember to always consult with your veterinarian for any health concerns or questions about your dog's well-being. Happy spring, dog dads!

'Adequately Nutritious' Vegan Diet for Dogs

Scientists compared two human-grade vegan formulas against a chicken-based kibble diet, and found that the vegan diets contained lentils, garbanzo beans, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, apples, blueberries, peas, and carrots. Interestingly, the researchers found that the vegan diets helped lower blood triglycerides and cholesterol in dogs, which could benefit obese pets.

Couple Charter Private Jet for Great Dane

A couple recently shared their unique travel experience on TikTok, where they chartered a private jet to fly their Great Dane and two other dogs across the world. Melanie Demi and her husband, Albert, saved up $45,000 over two years to make their dream of travelling Europe with their three hounds a reality. They have visited six countries so far and stayed at dog-friendly Airbnb's during their travels.

New Cancer Treatment Found Promising for Terminally Ill Dogs

A recent study has shown that a new form of chemoimmunotherapy could potentially be a promising treatment for terminal canine cancer. Scientists at the NUS Centre for Cancer Research used stem cell precision engineering technology to treat the cancer-stricken dogs. The team modified Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs), which are able to seek out cancerous tumours. These modified cells carry a potent 'kill-switch' that produces a high, localised concentration of a cancer killing drug in the tumour environment and subsequently induces anti-cancer immunity.
